The inclusion of North Carolina in the NCAA tournament was one of the most popular topics of selection Sunday.

The Tar Heels responded with a dominant victory over the state of San Diego in the first four. But their NCAA tournament -Run goes no further than the first round. No. 6 Seed Ole Miss opened a 22-point lead on No. 11 North Carolina on Friday and then stopped a furious late Tar Heels meeting for a win of 71-64.

With the victory, Mississippi continues to No. 3 Iowa State in the second round. An eight -year season ends for North Carolina.

Ole Miss jumped from the gates to a 44-26 lead and seemed to cruise for an easy victory. It was a well -known chorus for UNC, which regularly grooves deep holes in the first half during the season.

Mississippi expanded the lead to 50-28 early in the second half. But the Tar Heels hit back and cut their shortage to 63-59 with a 11-0 run to keep the rebels under pressure with 5:07, so that a tight battle was set up in the piece.

A three-point game from RJ Davis transferred the lead from Mississippi to 66-64 with 1:09. But Sean Pedulla from Mississippi replied with a 3-Pointer on the other hand to thwart the Tar Heels meeting and to reduce the lead to five points.

At that time, the Rally of UNC hit without steam and hung Ole Miss in a nail biter.
